Citizenship 2027 for Android (com.makekk.civics) · published by makekk · last updated

USA Citizenship Test Prep 2027 (“Citizenship 2027”, its name on your phone) is an independent study app for the U.S. naturalization interview, and it works on your phone. There is no account, no sign-in and no server of ours. Your study data is stored on the device and never uploaded to us.

The app reports how it is being used and when it crashes to Google Firebase, and fetches signed updates of officials’ names from it. Free users see ads from Google AdMob, and an optional one-time purchase through Google Play removes them. This policy explains what stays on your phone, what Google receives, and the choices you have.

What the app stores on your phone

In a small database in the app’s private storage on the device, and nowhere else:

  • Your filing date, whether the 65/20 plan applies, your state, ZIP code and representative, and your interview date, if you add them.
  • Your progress: the cards you have reviewed, your mock interviews, your bookmarks and your readiness estimate.
  • Your settings: large print, theme, language, voice speed, reminders and your privacy choices.
  • Whether you own Pro, as Google Play reports it.

Your phone’s own backup, and progress files

Android may include the app’s data in your phone’s own backup to your Google account, if that backup is turned on. That copy is made and kept by Android and Google under your Google account, and we never see it.

Export progress saves a file wherever you choose to share or save it; Import progress reads a file you pick. Neither sends anything to us.

Microphone, camera and other permissions

The app does not use the microphone, the camera, your location or your contacts. Read aloud uses your phone’s own text-to-speech voice.

Reminders are off until you turn them on. They are notifications scheduled on your phone; no server sends them.

Advertising

Free users see one banner on the Home screen and, at most, one full-screen ad after finishing a passed mock interview. Ads are provided by Google AdMob.

AdMob receives your IP address and coarse information about the device and app, and, only if you turn on Personalized ads, your advertising identifier. Ads are non-personalized by default. Your answers, dates and results are never part of an ad request. Google acts as an independent controller of that information under its own privacy policy, at policies.google.com/privacy.

If you are in the EEA or the UK, Google’s consent form (UMP) asks for your choice before any ad is requested, and you can change it later in Settings.

Pro

Pro is an optional one-time purchase ($3.99; Google Play shows the price in your currency) that removes ads. Google handles the payment and your payment details under its own terms; the app learns only whether you own Pro.

How the app reports on itself

The app uses three Google Firebase services. None of them receives your answers, your dates or anything that identifies you by name.

  • Remote Config downloads signed updates of officials’ names, so answers that change after elections stay current.
  • Analytics records anonymous counts, such as daily active users and finished mock interviews, without your advertising identifier. Turn it off in Settings → Share anonymous usage stats.
  • Crashlytics sends a report when the app crashes: what went wrong, the device model, the operating system and app version, and the screen you were on.

What those reports contain

A Firebase installation identifier, your IP address, and basic information about the device and the app. The identifier is specific to this installation; it is not your Google account, and uninstalling the app ends it.

Google processes this on our behalf as a data processor, under its terms at firebase.google.com/terms/data-processing-terms.

Emails you send us

Send feedback and Report an outdated answer open your own email app with a message addressed to civics@makekk.com. Nothing is sent unless you send it, and then we receive what you wrote and your email address, only to reply.

What we do not do

  • We do not ask you to create an account or sign in, and we do not know who you are.
  • We do not run a server for the app, and we do not upload, store or see your answers, results or dates.
  • We do not ask for, and never need, your A-number, receipt number or any immigration document.
  • We do not sell personal information. We hold none.

Age

The app is meant for adults preparing for the naturalization interview. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, children included.

Your choices

Turn off Share anonymous usage stats and Personalized ads in Settings, leave reminders off, reset or delete your advertising identifier in your phone’s settings, and turn off your phone’s backup if you prefer. Settings → Reset all progress, or uninstalling the app, removes everything it stored on your phone.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects you, the revised version will be published on this page with a new revision date.
